Chit Privacy Policy

Effective October 30, 2026.

Chit is a receipt and project expense app published by Southwest Blueprints. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. Contact: info@southwestblueprints.com.

The short version

  • We do not collect, store, sell or share any of your data. We have no servers.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no account.
  • Your receipts, photos and notes stay on your device. Text recognition runs on your device.
  • If you turn on sync, your data goes only to your own cloud storage, end-to-end encrypted with a passphrase only you know.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter or capture (receipts, images, PDFs, projects, budgets, categories, tags, splits, reminders, mileage, exchange rates and settings) is stored in the app's private storage on your device. App-lock secrets (your PIN hash) are kept in the device's secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).

The home-screen widget shows this month's total and reads it from storage shared only between the app and its widget on your device. You can hide the amount in Settings → Home screen widget; it is hidden automatically while the app lock is on unless you choose otherwise.

What leaves your device

Nothing, unless you start it:

  • Cloud sync and backup (optional, off by default). When you sign in to Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox or OneDrive in the app, your records are encrypted on your device and written to your account with that provider. Sync is always end-to-end encrypted with a passphrase you choose: neither we nor the provider can read your data. Your use of that service is governed by the provider's privacy policy. Sign-in gives the app access only to the app's own folder or the folder you choose.
  • Saving exports to Google Drive (optional, off by default). If you turn this on, copies of the CSV files and PDF reports you export are saved in a "Chit" folder in your own Google Drive, as normal readable files, so you can open them there. Nothing else is saved there.
  • Exchange rates (optional). If you choose to fetch an exchange rate instead of typing it, the app requests the rate for the currency pair from the rate service shown in the app. The request contains the currencies and date, nothing about you or your receipts.
  • Exports and sharing. CSV files, PDF reports and backups are created on your device and go where you send them (the share sheet, Files, email).
  • Links you open. Opening an e-receipt link from a QR code opens it in your browser, only when you tap it.

On Android, the system document scanner is a Google Play services module that Google may download to your device the first time you scan. Scanning happens on your device.

What we do not do

  • No advertising or ad identifiers, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites.
  • No selling or sharing of data, because we never receive any.
  • No location, contacts or calendar reading. Reminders you add to your calendar are handed to the system calendar app for you to save.

Permissions

Camera (scanning receipts and QR codes), photos and files (only what you pick), notifications (your reminders), biometrics (app lock), network (only for the optional sync and rate fetch above).

Your control and your rights

You can view, edit, export (CSV, PDF, full backup) and delete all of your data in the app at any time. Uninstalling the app deletes everything on the device. Data you synced stays in your own cloud account until you delete it there. Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side; contact us with any question.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at the same address with a new effective date, and described in the app's release notes.
